PEPP Renewal Course: Renew your PEPP Provider Status

Step 1. Complete an interactive, online education component.

The first online education component to be offered in the PEPP Renewal Course is Pediatric Respiratory Emergencies. This component is the culmination of the best and most recent educational technology available. Developed using the latest Macromedia Flash™ technology, this innovative online education component explores pediatric respiratory emergencies and is divided into five sections:

  1. General Principles
  2. Upper Airway Obstruction
  3. Lower Airway Obstruction
  4. Diseases of the Lungs
  5. Case Studies

Each section will provide you with a brief overview of the concepts presented in the initial PEPP Course, followed by an in-depth look into pediatric respiratory emergencies. Once you have progressed through the content of the section, several challenging interactivities will test your retention of the material presented. After successfully completing the interactivities in each section, you will proceed to the final online exam. After passing the final online exam and successfully completing the online education component, you will be asked to refresh your hands-on pediatric skills with a PEPP Course Coordinator in your area.

Online Education Component Details:

1. You must hold a valid American Academy of Pediatrics PEPP Course Completion Card to renew your PEPP Provider status. In order to renew your PEPP Provider status, you are required to provide the date of issue of the expiring American Academy of Pediatrics PEPP Course Completion Card on the online registration form.
NOTE: Your American Academy of Pediatrics PEPP Course Completion Card must be valid on the day you register for and log-onto the online education component.

2. Complete the online registration form and purchase access to the online education component for $23.95.

3. Complete the online education component. It will take approximately 3 hours to complete. You do not have to complete the online education component in one sitting. You can leave and come back at any time. You will have a total of 45 days to complete the online education component from the day you logon.

4. Successfully complete the final online exam. You must receive a minimum of 80% on the final online exam in order to move onto the on-site skills component. If you do not successfully complete the final online exam on the first attempt, you will have the opportunity to review the online education component and have a second attempt to successfully complete the final online exam.

5. Once you successfully complete the final online exam, you will locate an on-site skills session in your area. You can use the Find an On-Site Skills Session link or the Find a PEPP Course Coordinator link to enroll in an on-site skills session in your area. You will have the option of:

• Sending an e-mail notification to the PEPP Course Coordinator who will complete your on-site skills component indicating that you have successfully completed the online education component.

• Printing-out the certificate indicating that you have successfully completed the online education component. You must bring this certificate with you to the on-site skills session.

NOTE: You must arrange to attend an on-site skills session within 90 days of completing the online education component.
