PEPP Community: Upcoming PEPP Roll-Out in Buffalo, NY

March 7, 2002

Dear EMS Educator:

In partnership with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, and the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Program will be offering a "Train-the-Trainer" course for experienced EMS Instructor Coordinators and educators. The course, Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) is appropriate for experienced EMS Instructor Coordinators and educators who are interested in implementing PEPP courses in their communities for all levels of prehospital providers. The AAP's Division of Life Support Programs will approve PEPP Course Coordinators whom they deem have adequate and appropriate prehospital teaching experience (based on information applicants will provide on the Course Coordinator Application form).

The course will be held June 8-9, 2002 in Lancaster, New York, at the Lancaster Ambulance Corp., Inc. The fee for participation in this course is $30. The registration fee includes the PEPP Student Manual, PEPP Resource Manual, breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks for both days, and entry into a drawing for various door prizes worth in excess of $400. The PEPP Course is highly interactive with hands-on skill stations, small group scenarios, case-based lectures, and web-based resources at www.PEPPsite.com.

Participants will be eligible for 16 hours of New York State Instructor Update credits upon completion of the PEPP ALS course and the accompanying Course Coordinator Orientation.

If you are interested in applying for this course, you must complete and return both the PEPP Course Coordinator Application and the registration form with payment to the American Academy of Pediatrics. To assure quality education, especially in the small group skill stations, attendance is limited to 50 participants. For additional registration forms and Course Coordinator Application forms, please visit www.PEPPsite.com or the New York State Department of Health's web page at: http://www.health.state.ny.us/nysdoh/ems/nysemsc.htm.htm .
